Footage has emerged of the boathouse belonging to Van Mildert College of Durham University completely engulfed in flames.
The fire took place last night around 7pm and required two engines to put out the flames.
A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said "Reports of a fire at Van Mildert Boat house, came into CDDFRS just after 7pm yesterday (Tuesday, December 21)."

"Two appliances from Durham and High Handenhold attended the incident and were able to extinguish the fire using 2 jets. They left the scene at 8.33pm.”
The shocking footage shows ferocious flames tearing through the clubhouse used to store boats and other rowing equipment.
The boathouse sits on the banks of the River Wear opposite Dunelm House and is used by members of the rowing club.
Van Mildert College Boat Club was founded in 1965.
The college are expected to make a comment on this incident shortly.
