A person has been rescued from the cold waters of a Scots burn after being spotted by school children on their lunch break.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Dalbeattie Burn, Dumfries and Galloway, around 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Police, firefighters and paramedics pulled the 62-year-old from the waterway and placed him on the riverbank where they was treated for hypothermia.
Rescuers were forced to cut shrubs and bushes so that the person could be carried out and over a wall on a stretcher.
They were taken to a waiting ambulance where he was given further treatment before being rushed to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 1.15pm on Tuesday, March 23, a 62-year-old person was rescued by officers from the River Urr near Dalbeattie.
"They were taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and left in the care of the local NHS. No further police action."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 1.32pm on Tuesday, March 23 to reports of a person in difficultly on a river bank at Maxwell Street, Dalbeattie.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist water and line rescue resources to scene.
“Firefighters assisted the casualty who was handed into the care of paramedics.”
