Dramatic pictures have been released by police after a car overturned on the M61.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between junction 6 for Horwich and junction 8 for Chorley.
The incident happened near to the Rivington Services at around 6.20pm on Wednesday, say police.
Pictures from the scene show severe damage to a yellow car with debris strewn across the carriageway.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed for around an hour as police made the area safe.
The driver came away with only minor injuries, according to emergency services.
Delays continue in the area, though lanes on the motorway have now reopened.
In a post on Twitter, Lancashire Road Police said: "We are currently at the scene of an RTC on the M61 NB between Rivington Services and junction 8.
"Two lanes are closed and traffic is backing up towards junction 6.
"Thankfully only minor injuries to the driver. At one point this would have been a nice example of a Japanese legend.”
