Dramatic scenes as car mounts kerb and ploughs into Johnstone bank

A car has smashed through a metal barrier and ploughed into a bank in Johnstone High Street.

Cops have sealed off the road after the motor mounted the kerb and crashed into the Bank of Scotland branch.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also at scene making the area safe.

The white car involved sustained extensive damage to its front end while the window of the bank was smashed.

One driver, who witnessed the aftermath, said: "They must have been going at some speed to mount the kerb and go through the barrier.

"The police had the area sealed the area off and the fire brigade were there."

It's not known if anyone was injured in the incident.
