There were dramatic scenes on a Leeds road on Tuesday evening when armed policed were called to an incident after hearing reports of an individual threatening a person with a firearm.
Police were called to an address in Netherton just before 1.00pm after being made aware of an incident.
A resident told police that they believed an individual had been being threatened with what looked to be a gun.
Police arrived at the scene and stopped a vehicle, before arresting two men.
On arrival, police had brandished their firearms, as has been seen in a viral photograph across social media.
Police discovered the weapon was actually been a BB gun.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to an address in Netherton at 12.53 pm to reports of an individual being threatened with a weapon.
"A vehicle was stopped on Scott Hall Road this afternoon and a BB gun seized.
"Two males were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence."
Joseph Brown, who was in the area at the time, described the dramatic scenes.
Joseph said: "It was like something in a film, to be honest.
"Police just sort of come from nowhere, one group in a van undercover and just pulled out their weapons - it's not something I'm used to seeing here.
"As soon as I saw the weapons I just sort of shut my eyes and turned away - you hope that you don't hear any bullets fly and thankfully I didn't.
"They did a very good job, and the people who had pretended they had a gun should feel very silly. They could have got themselves killed."
