Dramatic pictures show house riddled with bullet holes after gunman opens fire

A gunman opened fire on a house in the early hours leaving the building riddled with bullet holes.

Police say the incident was a 'targeted attack' involving a gun being fired towards the property in Fairstead, in Skelmersdale, near Wigan.

Officers were called at around 3.50am this morning (January 10) to reports of a shooting, with crime scene investigators remaining at the house throughout the day.

Fortunately, Lancashire Police say nobody was injured in the attack, LancsLive reports.

Once at the scene, police found damage to a property caused by gun shots.

Pictures show a window at the front of the house smashed and full of bullet holes.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance to residents.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.50am today (Monday, January 10th) to a report of a suspected firearms discharge in Skelmersdale.

"Officers attended an address in Fairstead where it is believed a firearm was discharged towards a property.

"Fortunately no-one was injured.

"Enquiries are underway but at this stage we believe the incident to be a targeted attack.

"Reassurance patrols have been stepped up in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to an officer."
