Dramatic pictures show fire that destroyed building at industrial estate in Taff's Well

Firefighters spent more than five hours tackling a blaze at an industrial estate in Taff's Well on Tuesday morning in which a building was severely damaged.

Both police and six fire crews were sent to Ty Rhiw Industrial Estate, Taff's Well, at around 2am on April 14.

While the blaze was extinguished by 7am, two crews remained at the scene just off Cemetery Road until lunch time as a precaution.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue said: "At approximately 1.48am on the 14th April 2020 we received reports of a fire at Ty Rhiw Industrial Estate in Taff's Well.

"Crews from Cardiff Central, Ely, Whitchurch, Caerphilly, Treharris, Aberbargoed and Barry attended the scene as part of a multi-agency response to bring the incident under control and extinguish the fire."

A stop message was received at 7am but two crews remained on site as a precaution.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Police attended at approximately 2am after being notified by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

"Significant damage has been caused to parts of the premises.

"We are continuing to liaise with South Wales Fire and Rescue who are investigating the cause of the fire."
