DRAMATIC pictures have captured the emergency services battling a huge blaze after a wildfire erupted in the Highlands.
Firefighters have been working through the night to contain a wildfire, on the A939 near Dava, Grantown-on-Spey, after the blaze broke out at around 5.50pm on Saturday.
Four fire appliances reportedly remained at the scene on Sunday as efforts to contain the fire continued, more than 16 hours after it started.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.50pm on Saturday, June 28, to reports of a fire in the open on the A939 near Dava, Grantown-on-Spey.
“Operations control mobilised four fire appliances to the area, where firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire.
“Crews remain in attendance.”

Firefighters are also reportedly tackling another blaze nearby on the B9007 near Carrbridge.
Police have closed several roads in the area due to poor visibility.
The A939 is closed between Grantown-on-Spey and Ferness, as well as the A940 at Dava.
Traffic has also been restricted on the B9007 from the junction at Duthil to Ferness.

Drivers and residents have been told to avoid the area as efforts to contain the fire are ongoing.
Nearby residents have also been told to keep their doors and windows closed due to increased levels of smoke in the area.
