Dramatic picture shows Dublin Fire Brigade battling burning car with 1,000 litres of water near iconic Dublin landmark

This dramatic picture shows a member of the Dublin Fire Brigade battling a burning car with 1,000 litres of water near an iconic Dublin landmark.

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn rushed to the scene of an intense car fire near the Magazine Fort in Dublin's Phoenix Park on Friday night.

The DFB said that the fire was extinguished after responders, using breathing apparatus and high-pressure hose reels, poured on around 1,000 litres of water onto the carcass of the car.

And the DFB's ace photographers were on hand as usual to capture the smouldering wreckage as it was slowly put out.

They also gave the public a timely reminder that "mirrors, crystals and glass should be kept out of direct sunlight" after responding to a bedroom fire in Donnybrook on Saturday morning.

The fire apparently started when sunlight was reflected from a mirror onto the curtains in the room.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported at either scene.
