Dramatic photographs show eerie black shell where Cribbs Causeway Premier Inn once stood

Dramatic photographs show the aftermath of a huge blaze which ravaged the Premier Inn at Cribbs Causeway.

The towering white and purple hotel was once a beacon on the A4018's dual carriagway.

Now little remains but the burnt out carcass of the building following the fire which completely gutted one side of the venue.

More than 60 firefighters worked round the clock after flames first took hold at around 1:45pm on Wednesday (July 19).

Police declared a major incident after their resources were already overstretched with protests taking place in the city centre by Extinction Rebellion .

Some residents were left stranded, unable to reach to their homes because of a cordon set up around the area.

People were urged to keep their windows and doors closed, as black smoke billowed out across the city's skyline.

Parts of the building collapsed onto the A4018 causing it to close for four days.

Crews worked on the site until Sunday morning, checking for hotspots.

Today (July 22) broken steel frames and charred buildings with no roofs loom behind the complex's main entrance, which appears to have escaped the worst of the fire.
