Dramatic moment stolen car goes up in flames in Swansea

This dramatic video footage shows the moment firefighters battle to tackle flames engulfing a car in Swansea.

The car, which had been stolen, was set alight in Long Ridge, Mayhill , on December 28.

Fire crews raced to tackle the scene of the blaze - which is not far from the derelict and dilapidated former Swansea Boys Club building.

Details of the make and model of the vehicle have not been revealed - but it was left totally destroyed by the fire.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire Service said: "On Saturday, December 28, at 6.06pm, firefighters from Swansea Central attended a vehicle fire in Long Ridge, Mayhill, Swansea.

"The incident involved one car which was destroyed by the fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire using one breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

"The police were also in attendance. Firefighters left the incident at 6.30pm."

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We were called to reports of a car fire on December 28 in Long Ridge.

"The car had been stolen at about 5.30pm that day.

"The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact 101 quoting occurrence 1900475107 ."
