Dramatic moment police trap stolen BMW on the M61 - but the driver doesn't give up easily

This dash-cam footage shows the dramatic moment police trapped a suspect burglar on the M61 following a high-speed chase.

A team of expert officers covertly followed a BMW that had been reported stolen after a burglary.

The car sped along the M61 at around 12.15pm on Thursday.

The footage shows an unmarked Audi with its flashing lights activated manoeuvre around the side and in front of the vehicle.

The vehicle was then forced to slow down, bringing it to a halt at junction two for Salford and Manchester city centre.

Another unmarked vehicle can then be seen to intervene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of burglary, as police believe the car was recently stolen in Lancashire.

Officers said that the offender had 'tried to drive the wrong way' along the M61 to escape.

Nobody was injured during the chase.

The footage was posted on to the Greater Manchester Police Facebook page and met with praise from users.

Gary said: "Top driving skills from GMP officers."

Linda added: "Well done to the cops, good driving that."

Manni commented: "Thank you for getting another maniac off our streets!".
