Dramatic moment minibus bursts into flames on busy road

A dramatic video shows the moment a minivan is engulfed in flames in Walton.

As orange flames engulf the vehicle in the footage, a bang can be heard and black smoke rises into the air. Firefighters can also be seen trying to extinguish the blaze while sirens sound above the roar of the fire.

Cars can be seen struggling to drive past the scene, with some vehicles driving on the central reservation and outside lane to pass.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to Walton Hall Avenue, Walton, near the junction of Queens Drive at around 5.40pm on Thursday, April 27. Two fire engines attended the scene to find a minibus well alright.

One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. An eyewitnesses who drove down the road at the time of the incident told the ECHO there was "loads and loads of traffic and black smoke."

They added the smoke was "burning his eyes and throat." Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were no reports of any injuries following the fire.
