Dramatic moment emergency services scramble to aid of two women after Glasgow Clydeside Expressway crash

This is the dramatic moment when emergency services scrambled to the aid of two casualties on the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow.

Two women were rushed to hospital after the smash, which happened on the A814 eastbound near the M8 slip for the Kingston Bridge at around 7.55pm on Thursday, August 12.

The incident involved a white Renault van which appeared to come off the road before crashing.

Footage from the scene shows police, ambulance and fire crews desperately rushing to the aid of those in the vehicle.

The video, taken by a passenger in a car passing by, at least four police vehicles, a fire engine and an ambulance on the road with flashing lights on.

As the video passes by the scene of the crash, the white van can be seen smashed at the side of the road with debris scattered on the ground nearby.

The front of the vehicle looks completely crushed by the force of the smash.

Officers can also be seen making enquiries at the scene.

The road was partially closed for three hours and medics took two female passengers to hospital for treatment. Their condition is not yet known.

The male driver was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Police say their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a single vehicle crash involving a white Renault van at around 7.55pm on Thursday, 12 August, 2021 on the A814 eastbound Clydeside Expressway, near to the M8 on slip Kingston Bridge, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and two female passengers from the van were taken to hospital for treatment. The male driver was assessed by medical personnel at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

“The road was partially closed for three hours as emergency services responded to the crash and enquiries remain ongoing.”
