Dramatic M62 police chase near Leeds ends with car falling down a bank as footage shows moment pair are arrested

Footage has been shared of two men being arrested following a seven-mile police pursuit on the M62 near Leeds that ended with the assailant's car down an embankment.

Police have confirmed that they arrested two men following a chase that ended by the exit slip road for junction 30 near Rothwell.

The slip road was closed for a number of hours from just before 8pm as a result and there was "very slow traffic" going back on the M62 motorway.

Police had requested that the two men pull over in Wakefield, which is approximately seven miles away from where they were arrested.

Now footage of the incident, which you can view above, has been shared with LeedsLive showing police arresting the two men and leading them to an unmarked car.

A number of police officers were seen attending to the vehicle (YappApp)

There are approximately four other police cars at the scene, both marked and unmarked.

Separate clips show a car down the embankment off the slip road which the men were being led from.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Enquiries remain ongoing today after two men were arrested on Friday evening.

"Police brought a car to a stop on the M62 slip at junction 30 at just before 8pm after it had earlier failed to stop for officers when directed to in Wakefield.

"Two men were arrested in connection with an investigation with remains ongoing."

The incident was described as "minor" by Highways England. The scene was cleared and traffic was back to normal at around 10pm.
