Dramatic images sent in from an eye witness at a Falkirk train station show cops wielding Tasers surrounding a man holding a knife to his throat.
The incident at Falkirk Grahamston station has been ongoing for the last four hours.
Police officers remain at the scene and are engaging with the individual involved.
Eyewitnesses say the area is swarming with officers and streets surrounding the station have been sealed off.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Falkirk responded to Meeks Road at around 8.50am on Thursday 22nd August following report of concern for the wellbeing of a man.
"Local and specialist officers remain in attendance to engage with the man and ensure this incident is resolved safely."
