Dramatic images show car crashed into Glasgow house after smashing through shop railings

Dramatic photos show the aftermath of a horror crash, which saw a car plough into a Glasgow home.

We told how a pensioner is in hospital after her motor careered through two fences before smashing into the house on Edinburgh Road, Cranhill, on Wednesday night.

Police and fire crews raced to the scene at around 8.40pm.

Officers say the motor lost control right before the accident.

The car smashed through car park railings of shops on the street.

It then drove through a wooden and metal fence before careering into the wall of the house, leaving debris in its wake.

Shocking images show a damaged green vehicle in the aftermath of the incident.

On Thursday morning the area was taped off as police patrolled the area.

The driver, a 73-year-old woman, was raced to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the crash.

The nature of her injuries and current condition is yet to be confirmed.

Fire crews confirmed they attended the scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman told the Record: "We were called at 20.43 to an incident on Edinburgh Road, Glasgow.

"Four appliances attended.

"We have no more information as this is a police incident."

Police said their investigation is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "At around 8:40pm on Wednesday, September 16 police received a single vehicle road crash.

"The car appeared to lose control and crash into a fence before colliding with the wall of a house in Edinburgh Road, Cranhill. 

"Emergency service attended and a 73-year-old woman was taken to the Glasgow Royal.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the crash."
