Dramatic images capture lightning over Bristol

Bristol has been hit by dramatic fork lightning as storms passed over the city.

Lightning lit up the skies on Saturday (July 24) amid a Met Office yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.

Images of the fork lightning on the horizon above the city were captured by local man Tom Sparham.

The weather in Bristol on Sunday (July 25) is set to be more settled.

According to the Met Office, there is a small chance of a short shower, but it will be largely dry in the city.

Temperatures will fluctuate between 17C and 21C, the forecaster predicts.

The Met Office forecast for the South West reads: "Sunday will be a largely dry day in the west with sunny spells.

"Overnight there will be plenty of clear skies and it will remain dry.

"After a dry start on Monday, scattered showers will soon develop in the afternoon with sunny spells in between.

"Showers could be heavy and thundery at times, with a maximum temperature 27C.

"It will turn more unsettled further into the week with outbreaks of rain, showers and some sunny spells."
