Dramatic footage shows Scots mountain rescue heroes lift stranded climber into helicopter

Rescue teams in Argyll and Bute saved a fallen climber on Sunday after they were injured on a mountain in Arrochar.

The climber, who got into trouble on Creag Tharsuinn was air lifted by helicopter to safety.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue received a call yesterday and were assisted by Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Rescue 199 in getting the climber to safety.

Video footage shows the terrifying moment the male climber is lifted on a stretcher up to the helicopter.

Teams with rescue and medical equipment were dropped near the scene to help the stranded climber before they were lifted from the mountain.

Arrochar Mountain Rescue said: “The team were called out this afternoon to assist a fallen climber on Creag Tharsuinn.

“With assistance from Maritime and Coastguard Agency #Rescue199 we quickly got rescue and medical equipment to the scene.

“Once the casualty was secure in the stretcher he was winched directly into the helicopter from the scene. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.”
