Dramatic footage shows rescue of vulnerable missing woman walking on railway line

The National Police Air Service (NPAS) has released footage of the rescue of a missing vulnerable woman who was spotted walking on a railway line close to Bristol.

The video from NPAS's Almondsbury crew, which appears to have been taken with a thermal imaging camera, first shows the woman walking close to the track. Trains can be seen speeding by, just a few feet away from her.

Three people then approach the woman and escort her away from the railway line to safety.

NPAS said the rescue was successful thanks to help from British Transport Police Avon & Somerset and Avon & Somerset Police.

They confirmed that once the woman had been taken safely off the tracks she was taken "to a place of safety for further care".
