It is not clear if anyone was hurt.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "Just after 7.05am this morning (Sunday 22 August) we were alerted to a vehicle fire on the M60 clockwise between junctions 24 and 25, near Stockport.

"The fire involved a car well alight on the hard shoulder.

"Three fire engines from Ashton, Hyde and Stockport quickly attended, and firefighters used a breathing apparatus and hose reel to extinguish the fire before clearing oil from the road to make the area safe.
