Dramatic footage shows man pulled from car as police swoop on major Liverpool road

This is the moment police swooped on a group of men after a car was stopped on a major Liverpool road .

Dramatic footage captured officers boxing in a vehicle before appearing to smash a window and drag a man out of the car.

The incident is thought to be the aftermath of a police operation prompted by an Audi mounting a pavement and crashing into two people before driving off.

The images, which emerged today, show a car being contained by police vans at Great George's Dock , close to the Liver Building.

Officers surround the vehicle and are seen dealing with two people - one of whom is wrestled to the ground while being told to "stop fighting".

Merseyside Police has confirmed an Audi was stopped on Great George's Dock following a police chase on Sunday morning, leading to the arrest of four men.

The four men arrested were:

Police have confirmed that the men were also arrested on suspicion of serious assault, serious driving offences, possession of controlled drugs and possession of a knife.

Chief Inspector Kevin Chatterton said: “We always have the safety of our community in mind when challenging those who drive recklessly, particularly when they enter a pedestrian zone injuring members of the public. Our officers acted promptly in an unfolding situation using reasonable force.
