Dramatic footage shows man allegedly tasering police officer at Sydney train station

Officers arresting the man as a woman looks on.

Police have charged a man after an officer was allegedly tasered during an arrest on Friday afternoon at Yennora train station, in Sydney's west.

Dramatic footage has emerged of the incident, where the 50-year-old man appears to grab the taser from the officer in front of stunned onlookers on the platform.

The taser can be heard going off repeatedly.

Police allege the taser was activated four times prior to police being able to disarm the man.

A scuffle ensued and one of the officers struck the man as the other had him in a headlock.

Police said "baton strikes" were used during the struggle.

Later, multiple officers arrived at the train station and led the man away.

Police allege they attempted to arrest the man on the platform as he was in breach of a court order.

They originally stopped the man, and a 31-year-old Waterloo woman he was with, as both did not have a valid train ticket.

Police on Saturday charged the 50-year-old man with assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty, using a weapon to prevent lawful detention and resisting or hindering a police officer in the execution of duty.

He has been refused bail after appearing at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

A 52-year-old male sergeant involved in the arrest sustained a minor wrist injury, and a 29-year-old male senior constable was uninjured.
