This is the moment a huge fire ripped through a row of terraces houses in Toxteth.
Video footage of the blaze shows the full extent of the fire which ripped through abandoned properties on Ducie Street in Granby.
Firefighters attended the derelict Toxteth street after the fire broke out in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, April 25.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were alerted at 4.52am and on scene at 4.57am. At the height of the fire, three fire engines and the combined platform ladder (CPL) were in attendance.
"On arrival crews found a fire involving a mid terraced property.
"The property was well alight and the roof space was involved in fire. It is understood the row of terraced properties was under construction. It is understood the fire had spread to another of the properties.
"Due to the properties being deemed unsafe to enter, firefighters fought the fire externally using hose reel jets and main branches. The CPL was used as a water tower to tackle the fire from above.”
An eye witness, who asked not to be named, said fire crews were there all day damping down the fire on the street which has become controversial due to an unpopular development project.
The street has been derelict for several years, and in 2019, West Tree Estates were given planning permission to construct 90 one and two bedroom flats , using the existing terrace frontage for some of the build, which has led to a series of community campaigns and a petition seeking to halt the unpopular development .
