Dramatic footage shows bus engulfed in flames as fire breaks out in the street

A bus was left completely destroyed after a fire broke out in a Wigan street.

Dramatic footage of the blaze shows flames ripping through the vehicle after it came to a stop on Conway Drive, Billinge, on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews rushed to the area but the bus was already engulfed by the fire.

Fortunately, the driver and passengers had evacuated the vehicle before the blaze began to spread and nobody was injured.

"Crews were alerted shortly after 1pm. Two fire engines attended. On arrival crews found a bus well alight.

"The driver and passengers of the bus had evacuated prior to crews arriving.

"Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Crews left the scene at 1.57pm."

Pictures from the aftermath of the fire show the bus, thought to be owned by Huyton Travel, was completely destroyed in the blaze.

One other vehicle near the bus also sustained minor damage.
