Dramatic footage shows brave rescuers pull man from River Liffey

Heroic rescuers burst into action this evening after a man got in to difficulty in the River Liffey.

A boat carrying the life-savers raced to the scene near the Samuel Beckett Bridge shortly after 6pm.

Dramatic footage of the incident shows the man being pulled from the water and into the boat as worried onlookers watch on.

One rescuer can be seen in the water, hoisting the stricken man up while another brave hero in the boat then pulls the man into the boat to safety.

Luckily the man appears to be conscious and moving following his harrowing ordeal.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Just after 6pm this evening firefighter/paramedics were called to a water rescue following reports of a person in the River Liffey.

"Rescue swimmers from Tara St, Phibsborough & North Strand fire stations responded along with one of our rescue boats. One person taken to safety."
