Dramatic footage of 'illegal quad bike riders' hurtling through Edinburgh street dodging cars caught on camera

Shocking video shows the moment ski-mask wearing quad bike riders left motorists on a busy Edinburgh street terrified.

Dashcam footage from a driver shows the bikers hurtling around blind bends and weaving in and out of the traffic.

Our sister title Edinburgh Live report how the trio riding all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s) without licence plates can be seen rounding the corner from Cramond Road South to Barnton Gardens while snaking in between lanes.

A driver was forced to avoid the bikers who then can be seen speeding up Cramond Road North, stopping ongoing drivers in their tracks.

Certain ATV’s are road legal in the UK, but must be registered, taxed and have front and rear plates.

Local residents say the riders have been spotted on several occasions during the summer, all wearing face coverings and breaching road etiquette.

In the video, the trio overtake a cyclist on a bend without slowing for the corner and break solid white lines to change lanes before zigzagging past oncoming traffic.

None of the bikes have the plates required to make them road ready.

The motorist who captured the footage told Edinburgh Live: “I was driving back to work and the taxi behind was flashing his lights.

“I saw the line of quads overtaking everybody coming up to the bend. All wearing ski masks and no number plates on quads.

“They turned off towards Cramond Inn I think. Hopefully we don't have another summer of this as it has been a recurring problem."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment regarding this latest incident.
