Dramatic Galway crash sees 17 cars badly damaged as man taken to hospital

An investigation has been launched after 17 cars were damaged when a vehicle crashed into a car yard in Galway.

Dramatic images have emerged of the damage caused to the vehicles which were all parked in the yard in Headford.

The images show one vehicle completely burnt out, while another vehicle’s roof was completely smashed in with its back passenger area crushed.

Another image shows a dark coloured vehicle upside down on the bonnet of a silver vehicle at a fence close to the main road.

According to sources, up to 17 cars were badly damaged while ten of the vehicles had to be written off as the damage was so bad.

Gardai have confirmed they are investigating the single vehicle road traffic collision which happened at around 4am on Sunday.

A spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision which occurred in Headford, Galway on Sunday, June 13 at approximately 4am.

“A number of parked vehicles were damaged as a result of the collision.”

The driver of the vehicle, a male in his early 20s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations are ongoing, gardai confirmed.
