This is the shocking moment a row of cars and garages are seen ablaze on a quiet street after allegedly being set on fire by a group of louts.
Terrifying footage emerged after locals in Manchester looked out from their windows late on Monday night to see smoke rising outside.
Fire crews raced to the scene where they spent an hour fighting the flames, which spread across three vehicles and a set of garage, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Locals have pointed the finger at a 'group of lads' and have claimed they were seen running from the area.
Resident Chelsea Calland said: "We just heard banging in the backs so looked out and then saw that the cars were on fire.
"Saw one lad run off but have no description of him at all, it could of been more people but it was so dark, so we couldn't see anything.
"Luckily my car was parked up in the garden, but only metres away.
"It wasn't nice to see at all, just a little too close for comfort especially with my car being there, but everyone else's cars in the garages."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 11.20pm on Monday 12 April, two fire engines from Atherton and Hindley stations attended a fire involving three vehicles and a set of garages off Car Bank Avenue in Atherton.
"Working quickly, firefighters used two hose reels, two breathing apparatus, lighting, and prying and cutting equipment to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for roughly an hour.”
Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
