Drama as car crashes and flips upside down in Middleton, Leeds, with driver trapped inside

Dramatic pictures have emerged of a rescue operation in Leeds with emergency services having to free a driver trapped inside a car which has crashed in Middleton.

An eyewitness says there was a crash in St George's Road in new Forest Village with two vehicles colliding earlier this afternoon at around 4.30pm.

The collision caused one of the cars to flip on its side and it was reported that the driver of a white vehicle was trapped inside the car.

Firefighters arrived and managed to free the driver from the vehicle and an eyewitness claimed he was receiving medical attention after being rescued.

It has been alleged that the crash was a hit-and-run with the other vehicle fleeing the scene.

The crash reportedly caused delays in the area with two ambulances, three fire units and three police cars allegedly still at the scene.
