Surprise, surprise: Drake is back on top.
Without any advance promotion or marketing, the hip-hop superstar’s latest opus, “Honestly, Nevermind” debuted in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The 14-track project, which dropped June 17 – only one day after he announced the album’s surprise release – amassed 204,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 23.
According to the Luminate music tracking service, streaming of the Universal Music Group distributed release accounted for 94% of the album’s first-week totals. The collection is the fourth-largest streaming week for an album in 2022; projects from Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar and Future are the top three.
“Honestly, Nevermind” is the four-time Grammy Award winner’s 11th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 – making him the fifth artist to release more than 10 top albums. The Beatles continue to lead the pack with 19 chart toppers, followed by Jay-Z with 14, and Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand, tied with 11 each.
In addition to scoring his 11th No. 1 album, Drake reigns on the singles chart, too.
The sole collaboration from “Honestly, Nevermind” is in the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage, is now the Toronto-born lyricist’s 11th track to hit No. 1 on the pop music chart.
