Drake booed off stage after surprise appearance at Tyler, the Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw fest

Drake was awkwardly booed off-stage at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Festival by angry audience members who expected Frank Ocean as the surprise guest on Sunday night.

An unannounced appearance from the Toronto rapper is usually met by shocked cheers but on this occasion, the Los Angeles audience in the Dodgers Stadium booed.

During his joint headline slot with A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert, Drake ended up almost pleading with the unimpressed crowd.

In footages shared by fans, the 33-year-old said: “Like I said, I’m here for you tonight. If you want to keep going, I’ll keep going tonight.”

But the reception became a little too much for the In My Feelings rapper, who left the stage after saying: “ It’s been love, I go by the name of Drake, thank you for having me.”

In one video, a concert-goer audience can be heard saying: “He’s pi**ed.”

It has been reported that Drake ended his set 20 minutes earlier than planned.

Everyday Struggle host DJ Akademiks wrote on social media: “Fans at camp flog gnaw were expecting that Frank ocean was gonna be the surprise guest headliner… they got drake instead.. safe to say… they rather Frank ocean.”

Another festival-goer posted: “Soooo, the crowd at Camp Flog Gnaw booed Drake, Uzi, and Rocky off stage because they were mad the surprise guest wasn’t Frank Ocean? Who hurt ya’ll?”

Singer Abra shared: “Frank not performing is exactly what a crowd who would boo Drake deserves.”

Meanwhile some Drake fans said that they were upset because he wasn’t supposed to be on stage for very long.

Speaking of the misunderstanding, they tweeted: “ITS NOT THAT WE WERE ENTITLED, ITS THAT DRAKE LITERALLY SAID 'IM ONLY SUPPOSED TO DO THREE SONGS...' we were hyped, but then... he kept going? Why wouldn’t he just say he was the closer??”

Another replied, “ Still doesn’t justify him being bood off stage [sic]”.

Camp Flog Gnaw is hosted by Tyler, the Creator.

Other acts on Sunday’s line-up at Camp Flog Gnaw included the likes of Brockhampton, H.E.R, YG and Blood Orange.

Drake is yet to comment on the incident.
