Drake and Josh star's 'mortifying' Met Gala invite rejection and 'blacklist' dig

The Met Gala, a prestigious annual fashion event hosted at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, is considered on of the biggest events of the year, marking the who's who of celebrities.

Guests dressed in elaborate outfits based on that year's theme flock to the museum only by invitation from Vogue editor Anna Wintour. With the guest list so tight and stars vying for the opportunity to go, it's hard to believe anyone would turn it down.

However, ex Nickelodeon star Josh Peck, famed for being one half of Drake and Josh, confessed he had once been invited to the prestigious event but turned it down.

Speaking with fellow children's TV alum Hilary Duff on Peck's podcast Good Guys, the actor said: "This is a humble brag, except it's so me. You know I turned down an invitation to the Met Gala?"

Shocked Duff, who is best known as Disney's Lizzie McGuire, responded: "You did not."

Peck confirmed that he was invited when he was 23-years-old but decided not to attend the event, calling himself "stupid" while his guest called him a "moron".

"What were you thinking?" asked Duff, to which the now 36-year-old Peck replied: "I don't know, no one talks to me. And I'll never get invited, I'm blacklisted now."

This would have been the 2010 Met Gala, three years after the end of Drake and Josh, where the theme was 'American Women' and many wore American designers and sported colours inspired by the American flag.

Duff herself has attended the Met Gala, making her debut in 2008 when the theme was Superheroes: Fashion And Fantasy - she wore a sparkly floor-length strapless gown.

The event is a charity fundraising ball held to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute with celebrities from across the professional sphere attending, including Disney alums Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.

Had the Drake and Josh star attended back in 2010, he could have spent the evening with celebs like Emma Watson, Chris Pine, and Thandiwe Newton and witnessed Katy Perry's LED light up dress in person.

Apparently, Peck's wife Paige O'Brien, who is a cinematographer, is "mortified" by his decision - the pair began dating in 2011 so she narrowly missed be able to stop him turn down the event.

Sharing the clip on TikTok, Peck wrote: "Hilary Duff will definitely be invited to the Met Gala soon. Me? Not so much."

Fans were in disbelief, as one said: "How do you turn down an invite to the met gala!!!?" Another added: "Prob won't get another invite."
