Dragons v Scarlets team news as Wales international completes full house and ex-Osprey has trial for hosts

Aled Brew will complete a personal full house when he pulls on a Scarlets jersey for the first time on on Friday, October 16 (12pm kick-off).

The Wales international wing will line up for Scarlets A against a Dragons XV in a friendly at Rodney Parade.

The outing will see the 34-year-old join an exclusive club as only the fourth player to represent all four regions.

He follows Liam Davies, Tal Selley and Tavis Knoyle in playing for the quartet of Welsh professional sides.

A World Cup player with Wales in 2011, Brew has been drafted in for his experience at a time when the Scarlets are missing the injured Johnny McNicholl and Tomi Lewis and have Liam Williams and Leigh Halfpenny on international duty.

Brew figures in a side which contains returning Grand Slam prop Rob Evans, back after seven months out with a neck injury, while Tyler Morgan makes his first appearance in a run-on side for the west Walians.

Hot prospect Jac Morgan leads from the back row, with Ed Kennedy and Uzair Cassiem alongside him.

There had been talk that Ollie Griffiths would feature for the Dragons, but the sidelined back rower continues to be off limits, with Huw Taylor, Ben Fry and Taine Basham making up the hosts’ breakaway trio.

It’s a significant afternoon for Joe Thomas as he looks to nail down a contract with Dean Ryan’s team.

The ex-Wales U20s Grand Slam winner features in the centre in what is effectively a trial match for him. The Dragons will want the ex-Osprey to dovetail with another bright talent alongside him in Aneurin Owen.

Highly-rated Wales U20s lock Ben Carter will be another player to look out for in the hosts' side.

The match has been arranged to provide game-time for players before the Guinness PRO14 resumes.
