Dragons unveil striking new kit for 2020-21 season with a nice touch that will prove popular

The Dragons have unveiled a sharp-looking home jersey for the new rugby season, taking inspiration from the industries and heritage which helped shape Gwent.

A nice touch in the year of Covid-19 sees the region celebrate those who have been on the frontline of the public health battle, with every shirt carrying the message ‘Diolch NHS’.

All the junior kits feature the same message across the front.

Headline sponsors Compeed feature on the side panels of the latest jersey while new front-of-shirt sponsors, Doom Bar, are emblazoned across the chest.

The Dragons and their kit partners VX3 have come up with a strip which features an eye-catching mix of black and grey — as the region continue to pay homage to the area’s proud past, when collieries and steel mills were central to the supply of steel, iron and coal during the industrial revolution.

First-team players Ashton Hewitt, Ross Moriarty, Aaron Wainwright, Rhodri Williams, Leon Brown, Ollie Griffiths, Elliot Dee and Jamie Roberts were among the first to try on the the kit this week.

They were joined by Newport-born Wales international Cerys Hale, members of the region's inclusion teams — from the Dragons Allstars and Dragons Wheelchair teams — plus junior fans.

Other sponsors to feature on the new kit are Bisley, Building Management Solutions, Dragon Studios, iac, iStadiaSolutions, CRX, Coleg QS, Inter-haul, Harlequin, GOS Engineering, General Dynamics, GP Shipping, SFI, Hopkins Machinery, MBS, Shadow Scaffolding, Valley Water Services, Valley Tavern and Worthington’s, plus VX3.

Black shorts and socks complete the new design, which will be worn for the first time when Dragons host Zebre in the Guinness PRO14 at Rodney Parade next week.
