Dragons 16-28 Munster: In-form star shines again but Welsh team fall to another PRO14 defeat

On the scariest weekend of the year, the Dragons found themselves once again spooked by Munster.

The ghouls that had seen the Welsh team fail to find a win over the Irish province since 2015 resurfaced as the Rodney Parade side team fell to a third defeat in four matches.

The Dragons battled hard, especially in the back row where Ben Fry, Harrison Keddie and the exceptional Ollie Griffiths worked overtime.

But Munster always looked likely victors.

They were simply too efficient and took advantage of the home side’s errors as they maintained their unbeaten record this term.

Sam Davies and Matthew Screech scored tries for the hosts, with Munster responding through two touchdowns from full-back Matt Gallagher and one from wing Calvin Nash.

The visitors were ahead 18-8 at the break having taken the lead through a well-worked score which saw flanker John Hodnett put Gallagher over.

Try number two came after Darren Sweetnam collected a kick through before manufacturing an inside pass for Nash to do the honours.

But with Fry putting himself about and the in-form Griffiths catching the eye in attack and defence, the Dragons hit back through a Davies try.

They were never really in touch, though, with Gallagher completing his brace on 71 minutes.

Screech crossed for the hosts in the final stages, but it was no more than a consolation.
