Drag queen Bianca Del Rio is set to star in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie on the West End.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race winner takes over the role of Hugo — also known as drag legend Loco Chanelle — from Shane Richie on May 6 for just six weeks.
Del Rio joins the cast at the same time as Steps singer and Strictly Come Dancing finalist Faye Tozer, who will play school teacher Miss Hedge.
Layton Williams stars as Jamie New, a boy from Sheffield who dreams of being a drag queen and wearing a dress to prom.
The musical has a book and lyrics by Tom MacRae and music by The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie Sells. Jonathan Butterell directs, with design by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Kate Prince, lighting by Lucy Carter and musical direction by Theo Jamieson.
Del Rio, who won season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race, is also taking to the Wembley Arena in September in what will be the biggest ever solo drag show to be performed there.
