Drag Race UK's twist ending means none of the contestants know who's won yet

RuPaul's Drag Race UK is heading towards the semi finals with just six queens left, but a bizarre twist in the show means the winner will not know they have won until it airs.

However - both finalists will film their crowning moment and pretend they have won, being handed the crown, but only one of them will actually be shown.

The show has done this for years on its US counterpart too, as it stops the winner from being leaked online as the contestants and crew genuinely do not know who won.

So when viewers watch the sobbing winning queen thank RuPaul and their families for helping their dreams come true - they are acting.

Left in the competition are A'Whora, Tayce, Lawrence Chaney, Sister Sister, Ellie Diamond and Bimini Bon Boulash, with the brand new episode released on Thursday evening.

And the competition is hotting up after Tia Kofi was sent home last week, bowing out with the quip: "I guess RuPaul just ordered his coffee to go".

World of Wonder, which produces Drag Race, has also now announced a brand new spinoff Queen Of The Universe, where drag queens from all over the world will compete in a competition for the first time.

And that's not the only difference - they will also all be required to sing on the show.

Their vocal skills will be put to the test as well as the usual categories of fashion and makeup challenges.

This week, special guest Maya Jama joins Michelle Visage, RuPaul and Graham Norton (BBC/World of Wonder/Guy Levy)

World of Wonder also confirmed a brand new All Stars series was on the way, which will be the sixth series of the special show that sees Drag Race runners up from various series compete with each other.

Past seasons have been won by legendary queens including Chad Michaels, Trixie Mattell, and Alaska Thunderf**k.

* RuPaul's Drag Race UK airs Thursdays at 7pm on BBC Three
