Drag Race UK star Lawrence Chaney deletes Twitter account after being targeted by trolls

Glasgow drag queen Lawrence Chaney has been forced to delete her Twitter account after targeted by vile trolls.

The performer, who is currently competing in RuPaul's Drag Race UK, has deactivated the social media account @shadylawrence following Thursday night's dramatic episode on BBC iPlayer.

It's believed that Lawrence, 23, made the decision following the episode which showed him embroiled in a war of words with fellow Scottish queen Ellie Diamond.

After winning the episode's mini-challenge, Ellie was given the power to decide the running order for the stand-up comedy main challenge. However, Lawrence wasn't best pleased with her position and accused Ellie, 21, of throwing her under the bus and said it was a "real kick in the teeth" to be put behind Bimini, her comedy rival.

Later on in the episode, Lawrence accused Ellie of trying to 'set her up'.

Despite all the contestants calling for fans to 'be kind' and not send nasty messages on Twitter, Lawrence was inundated with hateful comments.

The @shadylawrence Twitter account, which had 92,800 followers is no longer active.

The drag queen is due to take part in a Klub Kids Stream Queens event tonight, featuring RuPaul's Drag Race USA star Utica.

Bimini Bon Boulash took to social media this morning to say: "This is a @shadylawrence stan account and you all need to realise it isn't that deep. It's a television show. If you support me please don't tear others down!"

Ellie Diamond added: "Just remember it's never okay to send someone hate or hateful comments! Be kind to others and KEEP YAH MOOF CLOSED!".

Sister Sister, who was eliminated in last week's show, shared a poignant message of support after she was also targeted by trolls.

She tweeted: "A polite reminder that there's a person on the other end of your tweet when you hit that send button. It can take 10 seconds to hurl a hurtful comment out there that could take days/weeks/months for the person on the receiving end to process.

Consider the impact of your words.

"If you're unsure sound it out. Would you say this to somebody stood directly in front of you? Is it going to matter in years to come? Is your opinion punching up or down?

Just because you can say it doesn't mean that you should. Your opinion is still valid even if it doesn't make the timeline".

Sister Sister was so impacted by the trolling she received that she wrote a column for The Guardian detailing the effect it had on her mental health.

As ever, we're right behind Lawrence and Ellie and can't wait to see our Scottish queens do the country proud again next week.
