Drag Race's Shangela calls out Dancing with the Stars host for calling her wrong name

RuPaul's Drag Race star Shangela is famous for her heated row with Mimi Imfurst and has now been causing a stir during her time on Dancing with the Stars.

The US season three queen, 40, playfully called out host Alfonso Ribeiro after he called her by the wrong name, leaving the 51-year-old Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor lost for words.

Shangela, whose name is Darius Jeremy Pierce out of drag, performed a Charleston to the song Dig a Little Deeper from The Princess and the Frog and then joined Alfonso for a post-dance interview.

The presenter joked about Shangela not knowing what "sickle foot" was in her intro package, but she had the perfect comeback.

"The real question: Did you learn my name?" she joked after Alfonso had called her Angela the week before.

"Well... Hello. Hello. Listen, I mean yes. Okay. You got me before I got to you," he replied as he seemed tongue-tied by the comment.

Collecting his thoughts, Alfonso added: "Listen, I wanted to say, the last couple of weeks, I did actually say your name a couple of times wrong.

"I did say 'Angela,' which is my wife's name, so it was a term of endearment. You know what I'm saying?"

"You know I love you baby," Shangela said before joking: "And you are my Alfondo."

A week earlier, the drag queen has shared a clip from the show on Instagram showing her cringing when Alfonso called her by the wrong name.

Any tension between the pair didn't last long as Shangela and her professional partner Gleb Savchenko found out they recieved 8s across the board from the judges, giving them their highest score of the competition yet.

Writing on Instagram, she said: "My heart was racing like crazy but when the announcer guy started the intro, in my mind I went into full on Beyoncé at the Super Bowl mode.

"I wanted to deliver y’all a moment that was worthy of all ur love and support, and also show people that might not be familiar or loving of drag queens, that we belong, and we know how to Turn The Party!

"Keep cheering, watching and Voting because we are in this together hopefully all the way to the finals!"
