Drag Race's Janey Jacke says preparing for show in lockdown caused extra stress

Drag Race UK Versus The World contestant Janey Jacke has opened up on a Facebook Live tell-all about her true feelings after her elimination at the hands of fellow cast member Jujubee and the hardships of preparing for such a huge show in a pandemic.

Janey, from Holland, made it all the way. to the semifinals of Drag Race UK Versus The World by excelling in each challenge and presenting some stellar fashion on the main stage.

She explained that despite being eliminated from the show she is still very proud of herself.

When questioned on how she was feeling after her dreaded elimination, Janey said: "I am so proud of myself and so grateful. I had an amazing time and think my exit is so Miss Universe worthy I cannot say anything else."

Drag Race UK Versus The World was a first for the franchise - therefore the queens competing had no idea what they were signing up for and who they would be competing against.

When Janey was asked how she felt when she was asked to return to represent her country, she explained it felt surreal at times.

She added: "They called me and I was so excited to do All Stars as I practically begged everybody to get me on, so it felt a little surreal knowing I was going to be representing my whole country.

"But at the same time I had been working in my country for so long that I know I make them so proud and they would be so supportive of me, so I was so ready to go for it."

When questioned on who she was expecting to see there, Janey responded and stated: "I wasn't so sure, I was hoping there wasn't another Dutch girl as I wanted to be the only one carrying this for now.

"I knew for a fact it would be Drag Race UK season 1 obviously, because not all of the seasons were aired and we never saw Australia and Spain and these other seasons."

"There were queens I was guessing, like I thought Divina was going to be there, I was hoping Blu would be there, for sure Cheryl.

"I really truly blocked myself from all of the spoilers as I wanted to be surprised in the moment and not be too stressed and anxious about who was going to be there."

Janey admitted the challenge of preparing for the tense environment of the show in the middle of a pandemic was a significant stress as she tried to get ready for the series.

She said: "Stress number 1 was being in a full lockdown, yet again. Preparing for a season like this is just really hard and it really puts a lot of stress and extra pressure on what you are trying to do."
