DraftExpress projects LaMelo Ball as No. 3 pick to New York Knicks in latest mock draft

With the NCAA basketball season set to start this week, DraftExpress released an updated mock draft paired with a watch guide for the month of November for draft prospects.

LaMelo Ball did not move up from the prior mock draft, still sitting at third behind James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards, in that order. More interesting is that, in the current mock draft, Ball would be selected by the New York Knicks.

A couple caveats should be noted. First, the mock drafts from DraftExpress normally do not take team needs into account this early in the process (even if the Knicks absolutely need a young guard). Also, the mock draft currently doesn’t reflect the actual draft order and instead reflects something more closely resembling a ranking of how the teams will likely end the season.

Still, there is plenty of intrigue in Ball potentially landing in the Big Apple. Recently, Ball posted to his Instagram a video of his MyPlayer on NBA 2K20 who, coincidentally, was a New York Knick. While it could be reading too much into the matter, New York City is a desirable place to live even if the Knicks are not quite a desirable franchise presently.
