Draft site gives Dolphins a running back in 2017 re-draft

It is not yet time to stick a fork in Miami Dolphins defensive end Charles Harris. But while Harris still has time to rewrite the narrative surrounding his NFL career, it is fair to say that things haven’t exactly gotten off on the best of terms between the Dolphins and Harris.

Two seasons and three sacks later, Miami is hoping to get more production out of the player they selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. We’ll soon know if Harris will provide Miami with anything close to what would be considered 1st-round production — the 2019 season is right around the corner.

But Joe Marino of The Draft Network released a re-draft of the 2017 NFL Draft this morning and — in a move that should surprise absolutely no one — Marino elected to have the Dolphins draft someone else in his exercise.

The Dolphins were assigned running back Joe Mixon, now of the Cincinnati Bengals. Here’s what Marino had to say about the fit.

“A position of instability in recent years, Miami has featured a different team leader in rushing yards in each of the past four seasons. A multifaceted back, Mixon is emerging as the focal point of Cincinnati’s offense and racked up 1,464 yards from scrimmage in 14 games last season behind a suspect offensive line.” – Joe Marino, The Draft Network

Mixon would undoubtedly be an upgrade at the running back position. But for our money, tight ends Evan Engram, O.J. Howard and David Njoku were still on the board — count us in for one of those three.
