A new Dracula movie is in the works with Universal set to remake its “monsterverse” after the success of The Invisible Man.
Karyn Kusama (Destroyer, Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation) will direct. Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind The Invisible Man, is currently in the midst of setting up the vampire thriller.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new Dracula would take place in modern times.
The last time the vampire was on the big screen was back in 2014 when Luke Evans starred in Dracula Untold.
The original makers of Dracula, Universal, appear to be reviving a number of its classic monster legacies.
The new Invisible Man is a remake of Universal’s 1933 horror film of the same name. Made for only $7m (£6m), the Leigh Whannell directed feature has crossed $100m (£87m) at the worldwide box office in less than two weeks.
Director James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquaman) is also said to be working on a film for Universal which follows a group of teens who discover that a neighbour is building a monster in his basement. At some point, the monster gets loose.
