The Chief Medical Officer has said NPHET would “be in favour” of the broader use of vaccine passes including for access to gyms and hairdressers.
Dr Holohan has again called on people to cut their social contacts in half as he said there has been no encouraging signs that people have reduced their levels of social interaction.
It comes as 2,975 new Covid-19 cases have been announced.
And another 74 deaths have been reported with 44 in the last 10 days, 22 in October and the remainder prior to October.
When asked if he would be in favour of the use of vaccine passes in places like gyms and hairdressers, Dr Holohan said “we’d be in favour".
He said there is “nothing to stop organisations” implementing the vaccine pass system and that businesses should “seek to protect customers".
Dr Holohan also advised people to only go to the pub once if they had planned to go twice in one week.
He said if an individual was planning to have 10 people over to their home, to reduce the number to five.
He said the “chances of bumping into the virus” while out and about now “is very high".
