Dr Hilary says Strictly pros have 'duty of care' to reveal whether they've had Covid jab

Dr Hilary Jones has said that Strictly professionals have a "duty of care" to reveal whether they have had their Covid vaccine.

It comes after reports that the crew on the set are "furious" at two professionals - who have not been named - for refusing to be jabbed.

This has resulted in some celebrities being reluctant to dance and staff being employed by contractors - such as make-up artists and costume designers - irritated as they are required to be double jabbed.

Giving his own opinion on Loose Women today, Dr Hilary said: "We have a duty of care to other people as individuals and as employers.

"If you are going to be that close to somebody, right there in their face and breathing their breath - you're going to be sweating, you're going to be touching for hours at a time - the risk is much higher if you're doing that with an unvaccinated person. They're more likely to have Covid, they're more likely to transmit it.

"There's a duty of care - it's common courtesy to say to somebody, 'Are you OK with that? Are you cool with that?'

"I mean, would you want your partner in any other situation to say, 'I know that I'm at risk of giving you an infectious disease but I'm not going to tell you'? I think it's courtesy and we should inform people, if they're that close."

Yesterday, a source told The Sun : "There’s a view among those taking part that the dancers refusing to do so are utterly selfish. The BBC are terrified of being seen as dictating to people over what they should do when in reality they needed to take a firmer view on it to protect the show.

“Those dancers who don’t want to get the jab should have been told to stand aside this year at least because the virus is still so prevalent.”

A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: "We do not comment on speculation of somebody’s COVID vaccination status.

" Strictly Come Dancing production has, and will, continue to follow strict government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show."
