Dr Hilary reveals difference between hayfever and coronavirus symptoms

Doctor Hilary Jones has revealed the key differences between hayfever and coronavirus symptoms after some hayfever sufferers are worried they will fail to pick up on something much more severe.

Appearing on Thursday's Good Morning Britain, where he revealed the coronavirus self-test, the health expert responded to concerns that common symptoms of hayfever like a chesty cough and higher than normal temperature, are also a sign of COVID-19.

Dr Hilary was asked to clear up the concerns by host Kate Garraway as you can see in the video above

He commented: "Hayfever doesn't give you a fever - it's a complete misnomer. One of the cardinal symptoms to look out for with coronavirus is a fever above 38 degrees and a dry, persistent cough which is new for you.

"So if you've got those two symptoms you need to self-isolate. But hayfever is coming in now, people are getting a bunged up nose and this isn't often a symptom of coronavirus.

"So if you haven't got the two cardinal symptoms of a cough, which is new to you, and fever, you carry on as normal."
