Dr Hilary supports Kate Garraway as her husband battles 'horrific' COVID-19

Dr Hilary Jones has showed his public support to Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper amid his coronavirus battle.

The famed TV doctor, 66, took to Twitter to send his thoughts to his Good Morning Britain co-star Kate and her husband Derek on Saturday.

News broke Derek was in an intensive care unit with coronavirus on Friday afternoon.

Dr Hilary branded coronavirus "horrific" as he sent his well wishes to Kate and her family.

Also, the TV personality praised the NHS heroes for all their hard work in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

He wrote: "To all of you that are suffering due this horrific virus I’m thinking of you all, also keeping @kategarraway & her family in my thoughts as her husband battles the disease & knowing that anyone in the same situation are in the best possible hands! #NHSThankYou #NHSheroes."

Celebs from all over have been posting their public support to Kate and her family.

Piers Morgan led the celebrity support network on Twitter shortly after the news first broke Derek was in hospital with the deadly bug.

Susanna Reid also reached out on social media to lend her support and love.

Kate has been in strict isolation with her son William, nine, and daughter Darcey, 13, at their family home.

The mother-of-two started showing mild symptoms of the killer virus.

Derek tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

A rep for Kate said: "Kate's husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

"He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus.

"Kate, hasn't been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home."
