Dr Hilary Jones has urged caution over travel and holidays outside of the UK due to how different countries are coping with the coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on Lorraine, he shared his concerns about international travel amid reports of countries being on a traffic light system.
He listed some of the places that the UK could be given the green light to travel to, without the need to quarantine on return.
But despite this hopeful news for some, Dr Hilary warned that there were still risks even if the country is on the green list and coping well with the pandemic in terms of cases, hospitalisations and vaccinations.

As well as describing airports as "a breeding ground" for viruses and sharing his concern about long queues, he also commented that some people visiting foreign locations might be travelling from a country that isn't as on top of vaccinations and cases than the UK currently is.
He urged people to consider this before travelling to hubs where lots of people will be under one roof, as there is the risk of getting the virus from other holidaymakers.
Lorraine had asked: "A lot of people of course are desperate to go on holiday, get a bit of sunshine and a bit of relaxing, but we don't know yet where we can go if we want to."

He explained: "I think it will be quite a small number of countries on the green list, where you don’t have to quarantine or self-isolate when you get back.
"It will depend on lots of things, what the local rate of infection is, what the local rate of vaccination is, how they are coping with hospitalisations, whether we can trust their reporting on case rates.
"So places like some of the Greek islands for example, Malta, Portugal are looking promising, whereas France they've got 10 times the number of cases we have on a daily basis, and that is still quite risky.

"We have got to remember that when people travel, they go to hubs where there are a lot pf people all under one roof from all different countries.
"Airports, you know that they are a breeding ground for viruses.
"Even at a bar in Portugal you might be having a beer next to somebody who has come from a country that is not as safe as ours or as safe as Portugal. You've got to assess it."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
