Dr Hilary Jones reveals what will happen if you need dental treatment during lockdown

Dr Hilary Jones has revealed what will happen if you need dental treatment during lockdown and why appointments have postponed.

The health expert was back on Good Morning Britain after Easter weekend and spoke to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about problems people are facing at the minute due to coronavirus, with regard to ailments like tooth ache etc.

Explaining why dental procedures have been postponed, Dr Hilary said: "The British Dental Association advised dentists to stop all but the most emergency of procedures, because those procedures generate aerosols which contain the droplets of virus which are sometimes in people who are asymptomatic that can affect the dentists.

"People can still get emergency treatment but it is difficult to get. What is happening is that people are being put on antibiotics, just in case it's an infection that can spread to the soft issue of the jaw.

"It's not perfect but there is usually pain relief and antibiotics which can help postpone the need to come in and see a dentist."

A number of dental treatments have been set up around the country, including a number in the Tyneside area.
